I used this once. A few months later I tried to use it again and it wouldn't work. I replaced the batteries and messed with it for a while heard a popping noise and the handle got incredibly hot. Taking out the batteries and throwing away.

It's worth the asking price and the batteries last a long time. I read mixed reviews and decided to take a chance. It now lives in my tool box that I use at work. It's by no means what you might consider an industrial engraver but it sure is handy. No longer do I bring a new tool to work and not have the capability to personalize it. To keep the button from being inadvertently held down while lying amongst my other tools I cut the bubble out, holding it to the card, placed it in that and wrapped some tape around it. to protect the button as well as the tip. I plan to make a protective case using PVC and two end caps. Several of my buddies have also used it to engrave their tools and asked where to get one.
